Final Photos

It’s been a couple of weeks since my return from the UK and Switzerland and I’ve finally finished going through all my photos. This process involves cataloguing, grading and editing. It takes a while.

Here are my favourites. If you were following my blog, you’ve probably seen earlier versions of most of these photos, but I think these ones are better. As with all my blog posts, you can see a larger version by clicking on a picture. Below the gallery I’m going to write about my photography post-processes, including some statistics from this trip.

All photos were taken either with my iPhone 13 Pro or my Canon EOS 90D + EF-S18-200mm lens. The following graph shows the distribution of each.

For the first time, on this trip I took more photos with my phone than my camera. There are a few reasons for this. Firstly, the cameras on the new iPhones are really good. Since I subbornly insist on using manual mode on my camera, it’s often quicker to use my phone when time is limited or conditions are challenging. Secondly, when there are people around, my phone is less intimidating and I get fewer “looks”. Having said that, nearly all of my favourite photos were taken with my camera.

Post-processing firstly involved filtering out all the (many) duds and duplicates from the 5,000+ photos. That left about 2,700 photos that I want to keep either for their aesthetic appeal or memory value. After grading quality, I whittled this down to just over 500 “good” photos. These will be my highlights and I spent time making edits including cropping and light adjustments. From these I chose my absolute favorites, most of which are in this blog.
